Dr. Jeffrey Whitman describes a simple technique for removing a one-piece AcrySof toric IOL that requires no cutting of the lens. The surgeon moves the lens into the anterior chamber and aligns the haptics with the primary incision: one haptic at the wound and the other directly opposite. Viscoelastic is applied liberally above and below the lens to protect the cornea and capsular bag. Using forceps to grasp the center of the lens, the surgeon gently pulls the intact IOL through the incision.
