Drs. Burnham and Tieu present a new technique for secure placement of a scleral-fixated IOL.This Marfan's patient with a subluxated crystalline lens underwent pars plana vitrectomy and lensectomy prior to IOL placement. Dr. Burnham chose the MX60 Envista lens (Bausch + Lomb) owing to its optical properties. Unlike Akreos IOLs, the Envista does not warp with over tightening or have risk for opacification after air/gas exchange. This technique provides very stable 4-point fixation at the sclera combined with high tensile strength of the Gore-Tex suture. Postoperative anterior segment OCT confirms good lens position.
