Simultaneous Syringe Method for Office-based Air Fluid Exchange

    02:10
    Retina/Vitreous

Drs. Riley Sanders and Sami Uwaydat use an air bubble exchange following pars plana vitrectomy to manage a postoperative vitreous cavity hemorrhage. Prior to the procedure, B scan ultrasonography rules out retinal detachment. A 10-mL syringe of filtered air with a 30-gauge needle is inserted into a superotemporal quadrant. Another needle, with a syringe that is attached to IV tubing, is inserted at 6 o'clock. This technique provides advantages of convenience and low cost.
