Dr. Audina Berrocal demonstrates extraction of a subretinal cyst in a 16-year-old patient who presented with blurred vision in his right eye. His blood work was negative and there was no evidence of neurocysticercosis on MRI. Following a vitrectomy, Dr. Berrocal performs a retinotomy and removes the retinal fluid. Attempts to extract the cyst with a snare are unsuccessful, so she decides to perform bimanual surgery and removes the cyst with forceps and scissors. The case was finished with 18% C3F8 gas. Postoperatively, the patient maintained 20/25 vision.
