Technique for Suprachoroidal Drainage in a Hypotonous Eye

    02:34
    Retina/Vitreous

Retinal detachment can be associated with a choroidal detachment in 2.0%–4.5% of all primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachments (RRDs) in Western countries and in as many as 18.1% of primary RRDs in China. Drs. Riley Sanders and Sami Uwaydat demonstrate a technique for choroidal drainage of a hypotonous eye using a 30-gauge hypodermic needle and viscoelastic to stabilize the anterior chamber, facilitate intraoperative reattachment of the retina, and allow for a more complete fill with a tamponade agent.
