In this surgical video, Dr. Steven Cohen demonstrates scleral sutured fixation of an Akreos posterior chamber lens and an artificial iris. The 70-year-old patient had a 300-degree iridodialysis following cataract surgery and subsequent vitrectomy for lens fragments. The iris was friable and atrophic, which prevented primary repair of the iridodialysis. Dr. Cohen shows insertion of an Akreos AO60 posterior chamber IOL and a CustomFlex artificial iris, both fixated with an 8-0 Gore-Tex suture. The artificial iris is sold by VEO Ophthalmics in Cincinnati, Ohio. One month after the procedure, the patient’s BCVA in the operated eye was 20/20.
