Avastin appears more effective than grid laser photocoagulation for BRVO

Researchers prospectively randomized 30 patients (30 eyes) with cystoid macular edema secondary to nonischemic branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) to either grid laser photocoagulation or to intravitreal bevacizumab. The Avastin group had better visual acuity and lower central macular thickness values at all time points throughout one year of follow-up (P<0.05).
