This prospective study examined images taken with both newer Cirrus Fourier-domain OCT and Stratus time-domain OCT of 101 eyes with suspected macular pathology, 45.5 percent of which had macular edema. Average thickness measurements with the two OCT technologies modestly correlated and were a mean of 43.2 µm greater with Cirrus OCT. However, the variable amount of correlation in patients with macular pathology precludes using this value as a correction factor. Results were similar for 512 X 128 and 200 X 200 Cirrus cube scans, which were both performed in 21 eyes.
