Retina/Vitreous
This pilot study included eight patients with retinal angiomatous proliferation secondary to AMD treated with verteporfin photodynamic therapy (PDT) followed by intravitreal Avastin on the same day. Mean number of injections for the nine months of follow-up was 3.2 ± 0.4. Angiographic leakage resolved completely in all eyes at nine months. Mean central macular thickness was significantly reduced and BCVA significantly improved at all follow-up visits compared with baseline. Visual acuity improved in 62.5 percent of eyes and was stable in the remainder.
