This retrospective review of consecutive cataract procedures performed at a private practice found that an injection of moxifloxacin diluted to a 0.1% solution in a 100 mg/0.1 mL dose at the conclusion of surgery resulted in no adverse effects. In addition, a prospective evaluation of 31 eyes by OCT before and six weeks after surgery showed that changes in macular thickness and volume were comparable to those in other studies in which no intracameral antibiotic was given. The author concludes that this treatment modality may prove useful in evolving prophylactic regimens against postoperative endophthalmitis.
