Recognizing Pigmented Conjunctival Tumors

In this 1-Minute Video, Dr. Sara Lally describes 3 types of pigmented conjunctival tumors. Conjunctival nevus, which is typically near the limbus, does not grow onto the cornea and can be treated with observation versus excision. Conversely, melanosis tends to be a flat, peppery pigment that extends onto the cornea. It should be surgically excised before it becomes melanoma. Melanoma must be surgically excised because it can metastasize to other parts of the body.
