    Atopic Keratoconjunctivitis

    Cornea Subspecialty Day 2016
    Cornea/External Disease, Ocular Surface Disease

Dr. Stephen Pflugfelder provides an overview of atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC), a potentially blinding condition that typically begins in the late teens and early 20s and can persist into the fourth and fifth decades of life. Although only 20% to 43% of patients with atopic dermatitis have ocular involvement, AKC is associated with atopic dermatitis in 95% of cases. Corneal involvement is common, ranging from punctate corneal erosions to epithelial filaments and defects.
