    DMEK-pD: Give a Little More!

    AAO 2020 Video Program
    Cornea/External Disease, DMEK

It is known that peripheral endothelial cell density (ECD) is nearly 9%-14% more than the central ECD, more in the superior cornea. This video demonstrates the donor preparation and use of "peripherally trephinated (pD)" donor tissue in Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK-pD) instead of centrally trephinated (cD) donor tissue, with the aim of higher endothelial cell density in the postoperative period without altering the surgeon's standard technique. This video will also show the results following DMEK-pD between six months and two years, with encouraging results compared to DMEK-cD.
