Lens Exchange in UGH Syndrome

Dr. David Crandall, speaking on behalf of Dr. Alan Crandall, offers tips for dealing with the uveitis-glaucoma-hyphema (UGH) syndrome, a complication of intraocular chafing from IOLs. An initial assessment should take into account the areas of contact. If the problem lies in the sulcus, surgeons might be able to reposition the sulcus lens into the bag. For focal areas of IOL-ciliary body contact, he suggests trying to expand the capsule and rotate the lens or performing endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation.
