Visual Fields and OCT: Diagnosing Glaucomatous vs Nonglaucomatous Disease

    Glaucoma Subspecialty Day 2022
Diagnostic & Imaging, Diagnostic & Imaging, Glaucoma, Neuro-Ophthalmology/Orbit, Optic Neuropathy

In this presentation from Glaucoma Subspecialty Day 2022, Dr. Khizer Khaderi reviews new ways of using visual field testing, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and other traditional diagnostics to identify glaucomatous versus nonglaucomatous disease. He describes the use of machine learning to detect nonglaucomatous visual fields and deep learning to predict macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness from retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) fundus photographs. Dr. Khaderi also explains the use of RNFL optical texture analysis (ROTA) from OCT raster scans to visualize RNFL defects, among other techniques.
