Highlights
-
Pediatric glaucomas affecting children up to approximately 4 years of age can be associated with significant ocular abnormalities due to the elastic tissue properties in individuals of a young age.
-
Examination of a child can be challenging, but good results can be obtained with a systematic and organized approach that includes the use of anesthesia.
-
Treatment of pediatric glaucomas more frequently involves surgery than does treatment in adults. The angle is usually the first site of surgical intervention.
