Treatment
Patients with asymptomatic disease often do not require treatment. Spontaneous remission is common for mild disease. For patients with more extensive manifestations, treatment is tailored to the affected systems. Glucocorticoids are typically the first line of treatment, and maintenance doses are sometimes required for years. For refractory cases, DMARDs are sometimes employed.
