  • Dr. Waring is an assistant professor of ophthalmology and director of refractive surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Storm Eye Institute in Charleston, and medical director at MUSC Magill Vision Center. He also is an adjunct assistant professor of bioengineering at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C.

    Dr. Waring is a founding member of the American College of Ophthalmic Surgeons and the Vanguard Ophthalmology Society. He is active in clinical research, with more than 100 scientific publications, abstracts and presentations to his credit.

    He reviews articles for peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Refractive Surgery, the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Cornea and the American Journal of Ophthalmology. He is co-chief medical editor of Millennial Eye, serves on the editorial board of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today, and is a section editor for Ophthalmology Times and Advanced Ocular Care.

    Dr. Waring received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He completed his residency at the State University of New York and his fellowship training in cornea, lens and refractive surgery under Daniel S. Durrie, MD, in Overland Park, Kan.
