  • Dr. Whitson is professor of ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He serves as director of the glaucoma fellowship and is a member of several committees there, including clinical quality improvement, medical directors clinical operations and surgical peer review.

    Dr. Whitson received his undergraduate and medical degrees from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He completed his medical internship and ophthalmology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center and his glaucoma fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta. He has also completed graduate studies in public health practice at Johns Hopkins, finance at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and entrepreneurial management in life sciences at Rice University in Houston.

    Dr. Whitson serves as a reviewer for several ophthalmology journals and has authored more than 75 publications. He is a past president of the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology.
