  • Rahul N. Khurana, MD, is a vitreoretinal surgeon at Northern California Retina Vitreous Associates Medical Group, one of the largest retina practices in California. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Ophthalmic News and Education (ONE) Network.

    After graduating from Stanford University with a BS and MS in Biology, Dr. Khurana earned his medical degree at Duke University. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, as well as a fellowship in uveitis and ocular inflammation. This was followed by a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore.

    He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers, presented over 100 abstracts and presentations, won numerous national awards and been involved in more than 70 clinical trials. He serves as a reviewer for JAMA Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology and Retina. In 2007, Dr. Khurana was recognized by the American Medical Association as one of the top 51 emerging national leaders expected to make a strong impact on the future of medicine.
