  • Robert S. Weinberg, MD, is chairman of the department of ophthalmology at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and a specialist in corneal and external diseases of the eye, uveitis, ocular manifestations of systemic disease and refractive and anterior segment surgery. He previously served as director of the Cornea Service, residency program director and professor of ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Weinberg has been an Academy Basic and Clinical Science Course committee member and chairperson for intraocular inflammation and uveitis, and has received the Academy's Honor Award and Senior Honor Award.

    Dr. Weinberg obtained his medical training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed two years of training in internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he was selected chief resident. Dr. Weinberg completed a cornea, external disease and uveitis fellowship at the Francis Proctor Foundation at the University of California, San Francisco.
