Sonia H. Yoo, MD, is an associate professor of ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. After graduating from Stanford University, Dr. Yoo received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University. She completed her residency and fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School in 1998 and joined the faculty at Harvard before moving to Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 2000. Dr. Yoo has been involved with teaching residents and fellows over the past decade and has been the director of the cornea fellowship at Bascom Palmer for the past nine years.
Dr. Yoo conducts research on cornea, cataract and refractive surgery laser applications. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging and is a member of the ASCRS cornea clinical committee and Academy refractive surgery Annual Meeting program committee.
