7th Annual Global Video Contest
Cataract/Anterior Segment, Retina/Vitreous
In this video, we describe a new surgical technique for the surgical management of the crystalline lens luxation. The new surgical procedure was used to treat a complete cataract luxation. A pars plana vitrectomy was performed to reflotate the luxated crystalline lens, then a phacoemulsification was performed holding the capsulorrhexis by multiple iris hooks. After, a capsular ring and a foldable intraocular lens (IOL) were implanted in the capsular bag. Finally, the in-the-bag IOL complex was fixed using a cow hitch suture technique.
