Machineless Phacosection in Hypermature Senile Cataract Under Topical Anesthesia

    By Meda S. Ravindra, MBBS

    Cataract/Anterior Segment

In this clinical video, Dr. Meda Ravindra performs manual small-incision cataract surgery (MSICS), with a manual phacosection on a hypermature senile cataract. The cataract, which has a tense bag, is decompressed before the rhexis is enlarged with a forceps. A cystotome with a small vectis is then used to remove the cataract through a small incision in the anterior chamber.
