Drs. Rebecca Soares and Ajay Kuriyan describe the case of a 73-year-old man with a history of 4 prior pars plana vitrectomies who was referred from an outside provider for recalcitrant full-thickness macular hole in the left eye. His preoperative vision was 20/400 with a 700-µm hole. After indocyanine green was then instilled, a 41-gauge cannula was used to create subretinal balanced salt solution (BSS) blebs in order to mobilize the edges of the macular hole. An amniotic membrane tissue graft was then placed over the hole and trimmed down to fit.
