Yamane Technique and Iris Reconstruction After a Ruptured Globe

    Cataract/Anterior Segment, Retina/Vitreous

A 25-year-old patient presented with aphakia and severe iris damage after repair of a ruptured globe. Dr. Alagorie began with an anterior vitrectomy followed by iris reconstruction. A Hoffman pocket was created, and a double-armed suture was guided through a 27-gauge needle, both ends retrieved from the pocket and tightened after a single pass 4-throw pupilloplasty. A 3-piece Sensar IOL was inserted into the anterior chamber and fixed to the sclera by the Yamane technique.
