    Allogenic Intrastromal Ring Segments for Corneal Ectasia

    In this interview from AAO 2017, Dr. Soosan Jacob describes a new technique of using corneal allogenic tissue as intrastromal ring segments for treating corneal ectasia and keratoconus. Created from donor corneoscleral rim tissue, the corneal allogenic intrastromal ring segments (CAIRS) are a biocompatible, reversible and adjustable solution for corneal ectasia, with numerous advantages over synthetic implants. Her preliminary data suggests that the technique offers patients significant anatomic and visual benefits.
