Artificial Intelligence to Predict Uveal Melanoma

In this interview at AAO 2022, Dr. Zelia Correa discusses her talk at the Ophthalmic Oncology and Pathology meeting on prognostication of uveal melanoma based on AI evaluation of digital cytopathology slides. The simple technology is a machine learning algorithm her group developed that could be easily used by most ophthalmologists worldwide, which correlates smeared glass slides from a final aspiration biopsy with what is known from gene expression profiles. The tested prototype shows accuracy of about 95% to 97% accuracy in specificity and sensitivity.
