    Diagnostic & Imaging, Glaucoma

In this interview from AGS 2017, Dr. Felipe A. Medeiros discusses an exciting new technology for visual field (VF) testing called a portable brain-computer interface, which combines virtual reality (VR) goggles with electroencephalogram (EEG) sensors. The device presents customizable visual stimuli to the wearer while recording the brain’s responses, freeing the patient from responding manually throughout the test. Dr. Medeiros says his studies show the device is accurate, and patients and physicians prefer it. In the future, he hopes to develop models for at-home use to better track visual changes. Dr. Medeiros is also working on a walking mobility course that patients navigate in a VR environment.
