    Laser Peripheral Iridotomy

    By Roger F. Steinert, MD

    Comprehensive Ophthalmology

Dr. Steinert illustrates 2 peripheral iridotomies performed with the Nd:YaG laser, demonstrating his preferred location for the PI in the superonasal area to reduce the potential for stray light. In the first case, the iris is thin and blue, so a single pulse at 6 mJ is adequate to create a full-thickness opening. In the second case, the iris is thick and brown, so he uses photocoagulation spots to stretch and thin the iris.
