  • Can COVID reactivate toxoplasmosis?

    Question:

Does congenital toxoplasmosis reactivate later in life only from viral infections, bacterial infection, or immunosuppressive disease? Or does having COVID increase that likelihood?

    Answer:

While the reactivation of toxoplasmosis can occur as a result of immunocompromised conditions or treatments that reduce your ability to fight infection, we also see toxoplasmosis flare-ups with no clear trigger.  To date, there is no evidence that COVID increases the likelihood of this.
