Question:
Can frontalis suspension eyelid surgery cure dehisence ptosis (a type of droopy eyelid) with good levator (muscles that raises the upper eyelid) function?
Answer:
In general a frontalis suspension procedure is reserved for patients with poor levator function and severe ptosis. A levator resection or Mueller's muscle procedure is generally used to treat ptosis secondary to a dehisence or weakness of the levator aponeurosis. If the frontalis suspension procedure was recommended to you, perhaps there are mitigating factors not evident in your question.
