  • Can I get LASIK to partially correct my vision?

    Question:
I’m farsighted and had amblyopia as a child. I’ve been thinking about LASIK to correct farsightedness, but it looks like it only is offered up to diopter of +5 (mine is +6.50 with limited astigmatism). Is it possible to partially fix my vision with LASIK to reduce the size of my thick lenses?

    Answer:
Reducing the thickness of your glasses with a partial correction is possible depending on your age. For those in their 40s or 50s, clear lens extraction (cataract surgery without a cataract, or blurred lens) with a lens implant would be the best long-term solution.
