Can I massage my client after their recent cataract surgery?
OCT 26, 2019
Question:
I am a massage therapist with a client who had cataract surgery five days before her appointment. I erred on the side of caution and told the client I'd feel more comfortable with her being cleared by her cataract surgeon before having a massage. How long should a patient typically wait to get massage therapy after having cataract surgery?
Answer:
They can have a massage within 10 days as long as no direct pressure is placed on the eye. Be sure to take caution with how they are situated on the head rest when lying face down.
