Can I teach my Zumba class if I have a PVD?

Question:
I was just diagnosed with posterior vitreous detachment in my right eye. I have a history of macular edema in both eyes which was treated with injections.
With PVD, can I continue my physically active lifestyle which includes instructing Zumba classes? I know I need to keep vertical movement to a minimum (if that is possible). My dancing is the one thing getting me through these incredibly devastating past nine months.
Answer:
In general, exercise is not restricted with a posterior vitreous detachment. We strongly discourage any activity that could result in you being struck in the eye, such as boxing or basketball. However, it should be safe to continue with your Zumba class instruction.
