Can macular edema (swelling in the back of the eye) result in blindness? I am not a diabetic. I have only noticed a waviness in my right eye about three weeks ago.
While macula edema can cause distorted vision and blurred vision, it rarely leads to blindness. If you are noticing waviness in one of your eyes, you need to be evaluated by an ophthalmologist and may need to be referred to a retina specialist.
