Question:
Can wearing glasses with the wrong prescription increase intraocular pressure (IOP)? I had to wear old prescription glasses for almost two weeks prior to my optometry appointment (those glasses were continuously straining my eyes). During my optometry appointment, my IOP was above 21. I explained that I had to wear uncomfortable glasses but was told that glasses have no effect on increased IOP. Is this correct?
Answer:
It is highly unlikely that wearing the wrong glasses would have any effect on intraocular pressure.
