Can wearing a stronger eyeglass lens than necessary make your vision worse?
JUN 30, 2016
I recently had an eye exam. The technician checked the prescription of my glasses, and both lenses were -5.25. I checked the prescription my eye doctor gave me 3 years ago. The prescription for my right eye was -5.00 and my left eye was -5.25. Therefore, the right lens of my glasses was raised .25 higher than it should have been. Would wearing a stronger lens make my eye worse and cause the prescription of my eye to go up?
These changes are not significant, and there is no reason for concern.
