Is It Possible to Test a 2-year-old's Vision?
MAR 03, 2014
Question:
Is it possible to check the eye sight of a 2-year-old?
Answer:
Yes, testing vision of a 2-year-old is possible. A few tests ask the child to identify and match some picture images, which can help an ophthalmologist rate a child’s vision (20/20, 20/40, and so forth). Other testing compares one eye to the other and relies more on the experience and judgment of the tester. There are also a few screening tests available that measure the quality of an electrical signal generated in the brain when the eye is shown a high contrast pattern.
