  • Can you get eye muscle surgery with Williams Syndrome?

    Question:
My 28-year-old daughter has a connective tissue disorder (Williams Syndrome) and exotropia in both eyes. Is she a candidate for alignment surgery with Williams syndrome?

    Answer:
It is fine to do strabismus surgery with Williams syndrome. But it’s important the deviations (difference in refractive power between the eyes) are well measured beforehand, so the surgery can be performed as accurately as possible.
