Does cataract surgery carry a higher risk of retinal detachment since I have a preexisting posterior vitreous detachment (PVD)?

Answer:
Cataract surgery should not increase your risk of retinal abnormalities after the surgery. Floaters tend to be more noticeable after the cataract surgery. This is because the cloudy lens will be removed and allows more light into the back of the eye resulting in the appearance of more floaters.
