Do I need a bigger prosthetic eye if I feel the real eye behind it is getting smaller?

Question:
I have a prosthetic (artificial) right eye. I feel the real eye behind the prosthetic eye is getting smaller, and letting my eye close more. The eye lashes feel like they are always touching each other. If I trim the eye lash once, will I be doing this for the rest of my life? I waited 15 years to get my first prosthetic eye, and have had it for 11 years now. Do I need a new, or bigger eye?
Answer:
There can definitely be changes in the size of your blind eye or the surrounding tissue. In general, we suggest that you see your ocularist once a year to check the tissue behind the prosthetic, polish the prosthetic and even resize if needed.
