JAN 11, 2016
Question:
I have a bad case of dermatochalasis (excess skin in upper or lower eyelids) and am in urgent need of a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). Do I have to first get a general checkup by my internist before I have the surgery?
Answer:
Many surgical facilities require a preoperative medical clearance by your family doctor. Please discuss this requirement specifically with your oculoplastic surgeon.
