  • Does my daughter need treatment for intermittent eye crossing?

    Question:

My 5-year-old daughter has symptoms of strabismus (eyes crossing) that occur before sleep or after sleep—once she wakes up and during the normal course of the day, her eyes are fine. Does this require treatment?

    Answer:

It is good that her strabismus is intermittent. Many types of strabismus are worse with fatigue. While the misalignment may not require treatment, please have your daughter seen by an ophthalmologist for a careful examination. It’s important to make certain there is no damage and that treatment would not truly be necessary.
