  • How can I treat tearing after my tear duct surgery?

    Question:

I recently had a 3-snip procedure (surgery that helps open up tear duct system) done on both eyes because of years of excessive tearing. Now that I had the procedure, my eyes are tearing more, and my vision is blurry almost all day long. Is there anything to try now after the 3-snip?

    Answer:

Excessive tearing may have many causes such as a dry eye, allergies, looseness of the eyelids or an obstruction of part of the tear drainage system. A thorough examination and consultation with an ophthalmic plastic surgeon will be useful to help sort this out for you.
