• If my dilated pupil resolved, should I still go see my ophthalmologist?

    Question:
Last night my pupil was dilated and slow to respond to light. At the hospital it was suspected to be Adie’s pupil and Horner's syndrome/3rd nerve palsy were ruled out. If my symptoms have improved, should I still see my ophthalmologist tomorrow morning?

    Answer:

Yes. It would be very important for you to see an ophthalmologist. There are several things that can cause a temporary dilated pupil. For instance if you used a scopolomine patch for nausea and touched your eye, etc. These and other possibilities can be discussed with your doctor.
