  • Is ibuprofen safe to use for pain relief if you are a glaucoma patient?

    Question:

Is ibuprofen safe to use for pain relief if you are a glaucoma patient?

    Answer:

There is no evidence that ibuprofen or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) have any impact on the internal pressure of the eye which is the issue with glaucoma. Therefore, it is safe to use this class of drugs even if you have glaucoma. However, please discuss use of ibuprofen and all other medications with your doctor.
