  • Is it OK to fast if I have central serous chorioretinopathy?

    Question:

I have central serous chorioretinopathy. According to my religion, I must have a month of fasting from 4 am to 8 pm. Will fasting make my disease worse?

    Answer:

There is no evidence that fasting will worsen central serous chorioretinopathy. You should avoid over-the-counter steroid and testosterone treatments such as skin creams and discuss any steroid or testosterone prescriptions with your prescribing physician.
