Is it safe to get your eyes dilated while taking Phentermine?
Yes, there has only been one reported adverse side effect with Phentermine, a popular weight loss medicine.
Ophthalmologists dilate your pupils to do a complete eye exam and look carefully at the retina, optic nerves, vessels of the eyes, and macula. Ask your ophthalmologist if you are going to be dilated during your eye exam. Not every visit requires dilation—if, for instance, you are getting your contact lenses checked or your glaucoma pressure checked. Many people after dilation have trouble with blurriness and light sensitivity for 1 to 3 hours. You may want a ride home from a friend. Some people with a condition called narrow angles shouldn't be dilated at all because it can cause a narrow angle glaucoma attack. Those people need a preventative laser treatment first.
