Question:
Is it safe to wear contact lenses if you have toxoplasmosis?
Answer:
Toxoplasmosis (a parasitic disease that can damage the back of the eye) can cause active inflammation of the inner tissues of the eye. If the condition is active and you are receiving treatment, there may be circumstances where you shouldn’t wear them. However, otherwise it is safe to wear contact lenses. You should discuss this question with your treating ophthalmologist.
